Certificate and Diploma Studies

Lay preachers, Youth leaders, Pastors, Children and Family workers, Lay chaplains and others all undertake Certificate and Diploma studies. These courses enhance their ministry skills, deepen their understanding of the Bible and Christian theology, and enable them to grow in spiritual maturity and leadership ability.

The College teaches topics towards a Certificate II or IV in Ministry or a Diploma in Ministry accredited through the Adelaide College of Divinity. These are nationally recognised qualifications within the Vocational Education and Training(VET) sector. Uniting College now offers distance education nationally, incorporating the courses and topics of the former Coolamon College.

The Courses involve study in three areas

  • Bible and Theology
  • Christian Ministry (where you concentrate on chosen areas such as worship & preaching, youth & childrens ministry, aged care chaplaincy, etc)
  • Personal Development (spiritual life, leadership, etc)

A Certificate II is the equivalent of 6 months full-time study, a Certificate IV is the equivalent of one year's study, and a Diploma requires a second year's study. Almost all of our students enrol part-time. You can study at your own pace.

This is competency-based learning and assesssment, which means that assignments recieve a "Competency Achieved" grade , or "Competency Not Yet Achieved", in which case the student is helped to do further work on the assignment.
